Yuno and Flutterwave Partner to Streamline Access to African Payments Through Single API

Yuno has announced a partnership with Flutterwave aimed at simplifying payment access for businesses expanding into African markets. The collaboration enables merchants using Yuno’s platform to connect to Flutterwave’s local payment methods through a single API integration, reducing the operational complexity often associated with cross-border commerce in the region.

According to the companies, the integration gives merchants access to Flutterwave’s payment infrastructure across several African markets, including Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda and South Africa. The supported payment options include cards, mobile money and bank transfers, allowing businesses to offer locally relevant checkout experiences without building separate integrations for each market.

The partnership is designed to address the fragmented nature of Africa’s payments landscape, where businesses often need to manage multiple providers, contracts and technical integrations to operate across different countries. With the new setup, Yuno merchants can manage payment operations and reconciliation from a centralized dashboard, rather than handling each local market separately.

The companies said the arrangement is intended to lower both technical and operational barriers for global merchants seeking to expand in Africa. In addition to simplifying integration, the collaboration is meant to improve access to local payment infrastructure and regulatory coverage, which are key considerations for businesses entering new markets on the continent.

Juan Pablo Ortega, CEO and Founder of Yuno, said the partnership is aimed at helping merchants expand more efficiently across Africa.

“Expanding into Africa has been a complex and resource-intensive challenge for many global businesses,” Ortega said. “By partnering with Flutterwave, we’re giving our merchants a single, scalable solution to access Africa’s dynamic markets faster and with much less friction. This partnership empowers businesses to unlock new growth opportunities on the continent with the confidence that their payments infrastructure is robust and fully compliant.”

Flutterwave said the collaboration builds on the company’s existing payment infrastructure and regulatory presence across Africa. Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, highlighted the years of work that went into building its payment network.

“Africa’s payment landscape is incredibly vibrant but historically fragmented,” Agboola said. “We’ve spent years doing the heavy lifting, integrating hundreds of local payment methods and securing licenses across the continent to build a single payment superhighway.”

By combining Yuno’s orchestration capabilities with Flutterwave’s local payment network, the two companies are positioning the partnership as a tool for faster market entry and smoother payment operations. The move reflects growing demand for infrastructure that can support cross-border expansion while adapting to local payment preferences and compliance requirements.

Industry Analysis

This partnership underscores the continued importance of payment orchestration in emerging markets, particularly in Africa where payment rails vary widely by country. For merchants, a single integration that connects to multiple local payment methods can reduce complexity, accelerate rollout and improve customer conversion by supporting familiar payment options.

For the broader fintech sector, the collaboration highlights a shift toward infrastructure partnerships that help global businesses navigate fragmented markets more efficiently. As cross-border trade and digital commerce expand, solutions that unify operations across regions may become increasingly valuable for merchants seeking scale without building country-by-country payment stacks.
