DIB Launches Relief Programme for UAE Frontline Workers
Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has introduced a financial support programme for frontline workers in the UAE, offering instalment deferments, fee waivers and preferential banking benefits for eligible customers. The initiative is expected to cover around 25,000 consumer banking customers and will remain available until 30 June 2026, subject to eligibility criteria.
The relief package is designed to provide immediate financial assistance to employees serving in selected ministries and essential entities. According to DIB, the programme includes up to three months of instalment deferment on selected personal finance and auto finance facilities, without profit or fees. It also offers fee waivers on selected card products, as well as a six-month zero-fee Easy Payment Plan for school fees.
For customers who are new to the bank, DIB said it will provide complimentary teller services at its UAE branches and fee-free home finance. The programme also extends preferential pricing on selected retail financing, wealth and investment services, broadening the range of financial benefits available under the scheme.
In addition to banking concessions, eligible customers can participate in DIB’s “Win up to 10KG Gold” campaign, which includes 50 prizes of 10 grams of gold. Salary transfer customers using the DIB XTRA Salary Account will also receive a 20% additional joining bonus.
Recognition for Frontline Workers
Sanjay Malhotra, Chief Consumer Banking Officer at DIB, said the programme reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting frontline workers, describing them as a symbol of resilience and unity in the UAE. He added that institutions have a responsibility to respond with practical support during periods when certainty matters most.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to stand alongside those who serve, by providing practical financial relief that addresses immediate needs while supporting long-term stability,” Malhotra said.
The announcement comes as banks and financial institutions continue to introduce targeted support measures for customers facing cost pressures. DIB’s programme is structured as a time-bound relief initiative and is focused on delivering short-term financial flexibility while also offering longer-term customer incentives.
Programme Scope and Eligibility
The bank has said the initiative is intended for eligible personnel across selected ministries and essential entities. The support measures will apply until the end of June 2026, and access will depend on qualifying conditions set by the bank.
With its mix of payment relief, fee reductions and value-added banking benefits, the programme underscores the growing role of financial institutions in supporting priority customer groups through tailored assistance packages.
Industry Analysis
DIB’s frontline worker relief programme highlights a broader trend in UAE banking toward customer support initiatives that combine immediate financial respite with relationship-building incentives. By targeting essential workers and offering fee waivers, deferments and preferential pricing, the bank is aligning its consumer strategy with social recognition and retention objectives. Such initiatives may also strengthen customer loyalty while reinforcing the competitive positioning of retail banking products in the UAE.
