Jubilee Health Partners with bolttech to Expand Embedded Insurance Distribution in East Africa

Jubilee Health Insurance has partnered with global insurtech bolttech to distribute its health insurance products through third-party digital platforms across East Africa, marking a move toward embedded insurance in the region.

Under the partnership, East African consumers will be able to access health coverage directly through financial, retail, and service applications they already use. The approach is designed to move insurance distribution beyond traditional channels and place coverage closer to the point where customers need it.

Jubilee Health said it will use bolttech’s API platform to connect with distribution partners. According to the company, the system will support product configuration, partner onboarding, policy purchases, administration, and claims management within a single customer journey. The integration is intended to simplify the process for both providers and customers while enabling digital delivery at scale.

The companies said the embedded model is aimed at reducing friction in the buying process and improving access to health protection across East Africa. By integrating insurance offers into existing digital platforms, the partnership seeks to make coverage more accessible to a wider base of consumers, including underserved communities.

Njeri Jomo, CEO of Jubilee Health, said the company is shifting beyond conventional distribution methods.

“We are moving beyond traditional distribution to embed protection directly within the platforms people use every day,” Jomo said. “This enables us to scale faster, innovate smarter, and extend health protection to communities that have historically been underserved.”

The agreement also reflects bolttech’s continued expansion in Africa. The company said the region remains an important growth market, particularly for digital and partnership-led insurance models.

Bente Krogmann, General Manager Africa at bolttech, highlighted the opportunity in the region.

“Africa continues to be an important growth region for bolttech, with significant opportunity to expand access to insurance through digital, partnership-led models,” Krogmann said.

By combining Jubilee Health’s insurance offering with bolttech’s technology infrastructure, the partnership supports a broader strategy focused on digital enablement and scalable distribution. The companies did not disclose additional commercial terms of the arrangement.

Industry Analysis

This partnership highlights the growing role of embedded insurance in emerging markets, where digital platforms are increasingly being used to extend financial services and protection products to consumers. For health insurers, API-driven distribution can help reduce acquisition friction, streamline operations, and reach customers at the point of need. In East Africa, where access and affordability remain important market themes, partnership-led models may play a significant role in expanding insurance penetration.
