Mashreq and Sukoon Bring SME Insurance Into Digital Banking Platform
Mashreq has launched an embedded insurance offering for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in partnership with Sukoon Insurance, allowing business customers to buy coverage directly through the bank’s digital platform.
The new service is available on MashreqBiz, Mashreq’s online banking platform for business clients. It enables SMEs to access insurance without leaving the banking environment, reducing the need for manual paperwork and broker-led processes.
Through the integration, business customers can purchase two key products: Workmen’s Compensation Insurance, which covers workplace injuries, and Third-Party Liability Insurance, which provides protection against property damage or accidental injury claims. The solution is designed to streamline the buying process by using pre-populated business data, quote generation tools and in-platform payment functionality.
Mashreq said the collaboration brings essential risk protection into a familiar digital banking experience. By connecting Sukoon’s underwriting and policy issuance capabilities with MashreqBiz, the bank aims to simplify what has traditionally been a complex insurance purchase journey for SMEs.
Banking and Insurance Services in One Flow
The launch reflects a broader move toward embedded financial services, where banks integrate third-party products directly into their digital channels. For SME customers, this approach can reduce friction, speed up decision-making and make it easier to secure coverage alongside everyday banking services.
Rajeev Chalisgaonkar, Head of Business Banking and NEOBIZ at Mashreq, said the integration is intended to transform a complex process into a simple digital task by offering the protection within the MashreqBiz online banking environment.
Aditya Kulkarni, Executive Vice President and Head of Distribution at Sukoon Insurance, said the solution allows the insurer to reach customers at the point where the need arises.
The partnership is part of Mashreq’s wider strategy to offer risk management tools alongside its core financial services in the UAE market. By embedding insurance into the banking journey, the bank is positioning its digital platform as a broader service hub for business customers.
Industry Analysis
The Mashreq-Sukoon partnership highlights the continued convergence of banking and insurance in the SME segment. As digital banking platforms expand their product range, embedded insurance can help financial institutions deepen customer engagement while improving access to essential business protection.
For SMEs, the main value lies in convenience and speed. Removing intermediaries and manual steps may encourage more businesses to purchase coverage earlier in their operations or renew policies with less effort. For the wider market, the move signals increasing demand for integrated financial products that combine payments, banking and risk protection within a single digital experience.
