Invest Qatar Launches Venture Capital Funding Module to Streamline Startup Access

Invest Qatar has introduced a new venture capital funding module on its digital gateway platform, aiming to make it easier for startups to connect with institutional investors. The module was developed in partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and is designed to consolidate the investment discovery and application process into a single online system.

The new feature gives early-stage companies access to information on participating funds, including their investment focus areas and eligibility criteria. Startups can also submit pitches directly to fund managers through the platform, while accessing additional ecosystem services intended to support their growth.

According to Invest Qatar, the initiative is intended to improve transparency and efficiency for founders seeking capital. By bringing multiple funding options together in one place, the agency aims to reduce friction in the fundraising process and provide a clearer pathway for startups looking to secure institutional backing.

The initial rollout includes a network of participating funds such as B Capital, Greycroft, Speedinvest, and Shorooq. The platform also features the Tech Venture Fund by Qatar Science and Technology Park. Many of the participating venture firms are backed by QIA through its US$3 billion fund of funds programme.

Support for Qatar’s Innovation Strategy

Invest Qatar said the module is part of a broader effort to strengthen the country’s position as a regional hub for technology and innovation. By anchoring both international and local venture funds to a single digital portal, the platform is expected to help lower barriers to entry for startups and make Qatar more accessible to global founders considering expansion into the Middle East.

Dr. Hamad Rashid Al-Naimi, Chief Strategy Officer at Invest Qatar, said the module was designed to simplify the founder journey.

“The module is the latest addition to our platform, built deliberately to simplify every stage of a founder’s journey,” Dr. Al-Naimi said. “By bringing these funds together, we offer startups a clear, direct path from idea to institutional capital, with access to the resources needed to scale globally.”

Haya Al Ghanim, Director of Qatar Funds at the Qatar Investment Authority, said the module improves visibility for entrepreneurs and creates clearer channels for engagement with fund managers.

“This module provides entrepreneurs with a centralised platform that enables them to have greater visibility of available opportunities and clearer pathways to connect with relevant fund managers,” Al Ghanim said.

Entrepreneurs can now access the venture capital module through Invest Qatar’s digital portal to review fund criteria and formally submit pitches to participating investment managers.

Industry Analysis

The launch reflects a broader regional trend toward digitising startup funding access and ecosystem support. For emerging companies, a centralised gateway can shorten the path from market entry to investor outreach, while also improving clarity around which funds are relevant to their stage and sector.

For Qatar, the module reinforces efforts to attract more startups and capital into the country’s innovation landscape. If adoption grows, the platform could become a practical tool for connecting founders with institutional investors more efficiently, while supporting Qatar’s ambition to strengthen its role in the regional venture capital market.
