Cisco appoints Bader Almadi as Vice President for Saudi Arabia

Cisco has named Bader Almadi as Vice President for its Saudi Arabia operations, with the role based in Riyadh. The appointment places Almadi in charge of strategy and commercial operations as the company looks to deepen its contribution to Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation agenda.

The move comes as the Kingdom continues advancing its Vision 2030 objectives, with particular emphasis on building digital capacity and expanding AI infrastructure across key sectors. According to the announcement, Almadi will help steer Cisco’s efforts in areas including financial services, sports, entertainment, hospitality and energy.

Almadi brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and sales leadership to the role. He joins Cisco from Google Cloud Saudi Arabia, where he most recently served as Managing Director. In that position, he led digital transformation initiatives across finance, healthcare, entertainment and telecom.

His time at Google Cloud included the launch of Google Cloud in Saudi Arabia in 2023 and the introduction of Google Pay in 2025. Prior to that, Almadi held senior leadership positions at Dell Technologies, Oracle and EMC.

Almadi is also no stranger to Cisco. He began his career with the company in 2006, giving the appointment an added layer of continuity as Cisco strengthens its local leadership team.

In a statement on his appointment, Almadi said he was “honoured to join Cisco at such a pivotal moment for Saudi Arabia.” He added that Cisco has played a fundamental role in building the digital infrastructure supporting the Kingdom’s progress, and said the company’s technology leadership, talent and partner ecosystem position it well to support Saudi Arabia’s digital economy and AI ambitions.

Beyond his corporate roles, Almadi has also contributed to national and international digital policy and collaboration efforts. He has served as an advisor to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on international partnerships, represented Saudi Arabia at the G20 Summit’s Digital Economy Taskforce, and led initiatives at the World Economic Forum.

Industry Analysis

Cisco’s decision to appoint a Saudi Arabia-specific vice president highlights the growing strategic importance of the Kingdom’s technology market. With Vision 2030 driving large-scale investment in digital infrastructure, cloud services and AI adoption, multinational technology firms are increasingly aligning leadership structures with local market priorities.

For Cisco, Almadi’s background combines regional experience, enterprise sales leadership and direct involvement in major digital rollouts. That profile may help the company strengthen relationships across regulated and high-growth sectors such as financial services, where secure infrastructure and AI-ready systems are becoming increasingly important.

The appointment also reflects a broader trend in Saudi Arabia: companies are placing experienced local leaders in key roles to support market expansion, policy engagement and ecosystem development. As competition intensifies around AI infrastructure and digital enablement, leadership appointments like this can play an important role in shaping long-term market position.
