Snowflake appoints Michel Nader to lead Middle East, Turkey and Africa operations

Snowflake has named Michel Nader as General Manager for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META), in a move that underscores the company’s focus on regional expansion as demand for data and AI capabilities continues to grow.

In his new role, Nader will oversee Snowflake’s strategy and operations across the META region, with responsibilities that include supporting customer growth and driving adoption of the company’s AI Data Cloud platform. The appointment places an experienced enterprise technology executive at the helm of Snowflake’s regional business as organizations across the market look to modernize their data infrastructure and explore practical AI use cases.

Nader brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology leadership across META and Eastern Europe. His background includes expertise in data platforms, security, and large-scale go-to-market execution. Most recently, he served as Senior Regional Director at Dell Technologies, where he managed cyber resiliency, data protection, and recovery across Central and Eastern Europe and META.

Earlier in his career, Nader held senior positions at EMC and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. In those roles, he worked across software-defined solutions, enterprise management platforms, and regional operations. His experience has centered on helping organizations protect data, strengthen governance, and translate technology investment into measurable business outcomes.

Commenting on the appointment, Nader said the Middle East is entering a decisive stage in its data and AI journey, noting that the region’s AI economy is projected to reach US$320 billion by 2030. He added that many organizations are moving beyond experimentation and are now looking for AI initiatives that deliver real business outcomes while maintaining strict governance and security standards.

As part of his remit, Nader will promote Snowflake’s AI offerings, including Snowflake Intelligence and agentic AI solutions such as Cortex Code, a Snowflake-native coding agent. He will also work to strengthen ecosystem partnerships, support the modernization of data architectures, and help organizations adopt AI responsibly in line with national digital strategies across the region.

The appointment comes as enterprises in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa continue to increase investment in cloud-based data platforms, AI deployment, and secure digital transformation. Snowflake’s regional leadership move suggests a deeper push to align its product strategy with market needs around governance, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Industry Analysis

Nader’s appointment reflects the growing strategic importance of the META market for global enterprise technology vendors. As governments and businesses accelerate AI adoption, the demand for platforms that combine data management, security, and automation is rising. Snowflake’s decision to place a seasoned regional leader in charge signals an effort to capture this opportunity by focusing on local execution, partnership development, and responsible AI adoption.

It also highlights a broader trend in the fintech and enterprise technology landscape: organizations are no longer only seeking innovation, but also solutions that can be deployed at scale with clear governance frameworks. In that context, leadership appointments with strong regional and technical experience are becoming increasingly important for vendors seeking long-term growth.
